Mary (Trechak) Hetzer, of Garfield, passed away April 28, 2021.
Born in Troup, Pa. to Michael and Julia (Sekela) she lived her entire life in Garfield. In her earlier days, Mary was a self-employed hairdresser and until her retirement was a dedicated employee of 22 years of Home Depot. She was a devoted parishioner of SS. Peter-Paul R. O. Cathedral in Passaic. She was an active member of the FOCA (Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America).
She is survived by her daughter, Eileen (the late Gregory) Telischak of Garfield; her son, George (Valerie) Hetzer of Oak Ridge; her grandchildren, Justine (John) Tomczak of Waldwick, Kimberly (Anthony) Strignile of Rockaway, Lisa (John) Nesgoda of Texas and Courtney (Robert) Rogers of Maryland. She also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren Michelle and Matthew Tomczak and Anthony Strignile, John Paul and Jack Nesgoda and Nolan Rogers. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mary is pre-deceased by her beloved husband, George (2012); parents, Michael and Julia (Sekela) Trechak and brothers, Andrew and Michael.
As per Mary’s request, visitation will be in SS. Peter-Paul RO Cathedral, 200 Third Street, Passaic on Monday from 9am-11am. Funeral Service immediately following. Interment to follow at SS. Peter-Paul Orthodox Cemetery, Saddle Brook. Face Masks and social distancing guidelines apply.
